cutest pirate

This is the cutest pirate you will ever see.

VBS

It has been many years since I have said yes to helping out with VBS. I forgot how much work goes into preparing for a class and my mom has done a significant amount of it. wow, no wonder my kids love VBS. We are doing Outrigger Island as is half the VBS in the country are. Know Live Speak

many hours later

I worked on my school room all day on and off. It is nice and clean. I need to hang pictures that are stacked by the printer. I am just not sure where to put them. I need to get something to organize all my cd's for the computer and music cd's in something else. I would love a master CD case and then copies in another one so the kids can't scratch the originals. I need a new light fixture, something that gives a lot more light and I think that about finishes it up. We are gearing up for our study on Russia which will lead us into a study on Vikings, World War I, World War II, Communism, Crimean War, Cold War, the arts and architecture. I am really excited!! We are going to be studying government for the first 4 weeks and I think following it up with a study of a communist country will be very appropriate. Here are my little mailboxes one for each of us. The baby and I share. We had a ball decorating them with little foam stickers. I leave little treats and I love you note

crate system

Here are the crates I use to store everyone's workbooks and notebooks. Our family is color coded. Emma is RED, Rebekah is Yellow, Annah is Orange, Donny is Blue, Ben is Green, Josiah is gray, Melaina is pink, Noah is brown, Lydia is purple Lydia's color is Samantha's old color and Aliyah does not have a color so when she is old enough to do school she will get Emma's color of RED. Emma and Rebekah keep their school books in their rooms in their crates (theoretically). I need a new crate for Noah this year but I doubt I will be able to find brown so I will look for tan or white. He will defnitely need a crate this year for his "school". He will not be 5 till November but he wants to be a big kid.

my school room needs work

It has become a dumping ground for miscellaneous stuff. Even large pots and pans and paper plates from the teenagers eating snacks at the computer. If they do not know what to do with a paper it gets dumped here. As you can see it needs a little work. My goal is to have this spotless and in order by Monday morning. If I ask for help maybe I can clear the area to work in peace. lol

Shweet 16

When Emma was a baby I used to sing to her You are my sunshine you are my sunshine you make me happy when skies are grey you'll never know dear, just how much i love you please don't take my sunshine away She turned 16 and got her first official boyfriend.

spaghetti

I love to cook, I hate to clean up. One of my family favorites is spaghetti. Samantha, Emma and Annah all know how to make spaghetti , Rebekah the 14 year old has thus remained under my radar and has avoided most cooking. Definitely have to work on that. Here is Annah making spaghetti for the masses. 3 lbs ground beef browned with one large onion(my family does not like onion so we chop this into tiny pieces) 4 large cans of crushed tomato sauce 4 large cans of tomato sauce 2 Tablespoons of basil, oregano and garlic (powder, salt or sometimes the real thing depending on what we have on hand) We serve salad and garlic bread with this. yum.

summer is half over

I cannot believer that summer is half over. I have spent half of it obsessing over what to do next year for curriculum. While "I" love Tapestry of Grace and have learned so much from it my kids are barely tolerating it and we are just dragging our way through the school day. Don has encouraged me to try something new by doing some old. Once upon a time I loved to homeschool and I loved to teach and my kids loved to learn. Soooo we are returning to KONOS. I know my kids will love this I just need to make sure I can be prepared. So now I am obsessing over what units to teach in KONOS and for how long. We have chosen the Russian study and I am not sure how long to make this study and who to include. Speaking of returning, we have started to use the PEGS chore system again. Mainly it keeps everyone accountable not just in chores but in behavior attitude and communication. It helps me remember to praise and reward for good behavior, attitude or communication. On Sunday Noah came t

latte

This is our new puppy. Our last puppy had to be relocated because he had a tendency to go after our neighbors. He hated them and that is an understatement. So Sawyer is in a non-children family and we have latte. Her "official" name is Lady Latte. For a while all the children called her latte and Don and I called her lady but since they out number us latte it has become. She has a sweet disposition BUT as all puppies she has some tendencies we need to work on. Stealing food and trash is a big one and she still has not completely got the don't pee in the hosue thing. aaaahhh Anyway, she is a cute one And yes she is on my sofa.
