many hours later



I worked on my school room all day on and off. It is nice and clean. I need to hang pictures that are stacked by the printer. I am just not sure where to put them. I need to get something to organize all my cd's for the computer and music cd's in something else. I would love a master CD case and then copies in another one so the kids can't scratch the originals. I need a new light fixture, something that gives a lot more light and I think that about finishes it up.
We are gearing up for our study on Russia which will lead us into a study on Vikings, World War I, World War II, Communism, Crimean War, Cold War, the arts and architecture. I am really excited!! We are going to be studying government for the first 4 weeks and I think following it up with a study of a communist country will be very appropriate.



Here are my little mailboxes one for each of us. The baby and I share. We had a ball decorating them with little foam stickers. I leave little treats and I love you notes in them. I get some too. When school starts they will get index cards with their assignments on them for the week and they can store their cards in their mailboxes and record page numbers or chapter numbers and on Friday hand in their cards and I will record it all on homeschool tracker. I have tried in years past to plan ahead on the tracker but I always ended up changing to much. I guess I am too much a "free spirit" as far as that goes. http://www.homeschooltracker.com/


last but not least is my computer desk. I need a new cpu unit. neither cd drive works, it has viruses but it is enough for the kids to play music, access some games and my teenager to AIM on. It only gets dial-up. Basically it has seen better days but I don't have the finances to replace it.

Oh Yum, looks great...makes me want to clean mine up...but every time it does not last long. I need more shelving! Hope yours stays that way a long time.

My dear sweet friend has invited me and my children to come once a week and study I Peter via video web cast. It is a church in Washington State, Mars Hill Church. www.marshillchurch.org. Anyway, he was speaking of the Old Testament being about Jesus and the New Testament being about Jesus. He reviewed many prophesies fulfilled and it was beautiful to be reminded of all that Jesus has done and will do. It is all about Jesus! Out of all the things he said the thing that struck me the most was that the Bible is not a self-help book. Big deal you say. Think about this. How many books in the Christian book store are self-help books. If you do this, you will get this result. If you have this problem read, pray and meditate on this verse, chapter, principle etc. The Bible is not some rule book. Follow the rules and you will get xyz. I yearn for order, I love order, I crave order.

Messes seem to paralyze me. You would not guess this from the state of my house. (this is our sock and laundry pile) However, I am also a low key, not a high energy person mostly due to health issues and fatigue. So... I plan. I love to plan actually. I plan meals, I plan organizational ideas, I plan school, I plan to plan. My school year starts out with me reflecting on what I didn't like and did like about the last school year. There are some years I realize that we used a method or curriculum that is diametrically opposed to our homeschool philosophy. This past year is a good example of this reflection. For our family, workbooks aren't necessarily a good tool for us to learn, neither are lapbooks. This year I picked up a workbook for everything. I even had more than one for most subjects. I am going to try again.  Spending less time on Facebook to record our funnies and more time here. Life moves to fast not to record these precious moment in my life. A new endeavor, combined with a not so new endeavor.   Cooking! For a long time now, cooking has been about feeding the masses aka the herd.  Meal planning happened on the way to the grocery store.  I have not been enjoying the process or even caring what we ate as long as everyone ate it and it was relatively healthy.  As I was surfing the internet I ran across something I just HAD to try.  It is a menu planning program that allows you to plop in recipes from the web, maintains a grocery list, you can add your own AND it has mobile capabilities!
