Freedom

As our American freedoms, according to the constitution, are being run over, altered, and outright dismissed one must remember these are not the freedoms God has promised us. I sometimes despair as I watch our freedoms being eroded little by little and sometimes in big chunks. I watch our media (television, social and advertising) spreading propaganda on all sides and I am disheartened. America is founded on freedom and our emotions and beliefs get tangled up in this freedom. Our national anthem has brought tears to my eyes on the idealistic image of a nation that loves and serves God. However, America is made up of imperfect people who sin and need to repent. The Word of God doesn't teach community repentance, the Word doesn't teach national repentance, and the Word doesn't teach American freedom. The word teaches individual repentance and surrender to the King of Kings and Lord of Lord, the triune God, THE Creator of heaven and earth. Isaiah 9:6 says "For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on shoulders; and his name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. Jesus came to give us the freedom from the penalty of sin, the freedom to be transformed and sanctified, and the freedom to be a co-heir with Christ. That is the freedom we should desire most of all.

The Bible is not a self-help book

My dear sweet friend has invited me and my children to come once a week and study I Peter via video web cast. It is a church in Washington State, Mars Hill Church. www.marshillchurch.org. Anyway, he was speaking of the Old Testament being about Jesus and the New Testament being about Jesus. He reviewed many prophesies fulfilled and it was beautiful to be reminded of all that Jesus has done and will do. It is all about Jesus! Out of all the things he said the thing that struck me the most was that the Bible is not a self-help book. Big deal you say. Think about this. How many books in the Christian book store are self-help books. If you do this, you will get this result. If you have this problem read, pray and meditate on this verse, chapter, principle etc. The Bible is not some rule book. Follow the rules and you will get xyz. Brain Cells

Josiah (11) total left brain. This looks identical to the one he was shown. Ben, age 12 (learning delayed) When snapping the picture of his cell. He hollared "wait, I think it blinked" Then of course he laughted hysterically. Ben is definitely right brained. Melaina is 9 and is left brained. While her brain cell was not detailed her explanation sure was. On our journey I have learned so much about my children. One of my favorite things about Konos is observing my children. By nature I like to jump in and take over and I like things done just so. Left brained I guess. But by sitting back and observing and letting my kids do the work they learn so much more and I learn about them. What they think, how they tick, there sense of humor. The three brain cells my kids made were a true reflection of their personalities. They each took their time and were serious about their project. we went to the beach this summer and Emma, Rebekah and I made T-shirts for everyone. We figured everyone is always counting us so we would give them some help. It was a lot of fun!!! I only regret not having t-shirts for the grand-rents.
